VOB News April 2019 “South Dakota Tribes”

We brought back to San Diego, for our new front lawn, the sign made famous near our hometown in NC. Perfect time for the season! Thank You JESUS!!

Dear friends, how was your Easter week? Ours was blessed. And always, as probably for you too, a time of conflicting reflection of both grief and gratitude for what our Lord Jesus suffered for our redemption.

First, we want to take a moment to once again, acknowledge and thank the Lord for the prior answers to prayer, in our last newsletter.  Then, we’d like to ask if you would hunker down with us in prayer on a couple of ‘big deal’ kind of items:

In November, we received an invitation to come out to South Dakota in the summer, and do worship & prayer on all 9 reservations in the state.  Yes, NINE!!!  This is an amazing invitation and such a huge honor to be asked to carry the fire of worship and prayer to the Great Sioux nation. The Seven Council Fires, (collectively known as the Great Sioux Nation), have a history which is somewhat familiar to many of us, particularly the Battle of Little Bighorn, and the Wounded Knee Massacre. However, there is so much more to the people than just the stories you may know. The Sioux nation covers such a vast amount of land,  originally including territory in Montana, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Wyoming, Wisconsin, and parts of Canada.  Today, there are over 20 Sioux reservations in the US and Canada. In South Dakota alone, there are nine.  We will be flying to SD in June, around the 22nd, traveling daily to each reservation doing worship and prayer, as well as encouraging the people, then traveling on to the next place, the next day and doing the same.  We return to San Diego around June 30.  This is a daunting task, and our hosts are really committed to seeing breakthru come for their people, through worship and prayer. So if you would ‘gird up your loins’, so to speak, and really dig in, in prayer for us, as well as the team in SD, as we all prepare, make arrangements, communicate and sort things out, we would ALL be so appreciative.

Here is a list of the 9 reservations we will be going to:

Pine Ridge-Oglala Sioux Tribe (a return from last summer)

Rosebud Sioux Tribe

Lower Brule Sioux Tribe

Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe

Standing Rock Sioux Tribe

Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe

Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe

Crow Creek Sioux Tribe

Yankton Sioux Tribe

Again, we are so incredibly honored to be partnering with our First Nations friends, and are looking forward to serving them this summer.  But we can’t do it without YOU! We cannot stress enough, how prayer support makes the difference between a very rocky, unplowed road, and a much smoother, plowed road.  Would you add your shoulder to the wheel in this endeavor? If you’d like to receive specific email updates with prayer requests, please let us know, and we will add you to the list.  We would like to create regular updates, as people follow the preparation and travel, knowing that we are all in this together.

We would also like to ask you to please include our physical health in your prayers. We both have had greater aches and pains recently most likely due to our extra physical activities and some underlying issues (also a need for prayer). We just need our bodies to keep up with our hearts desires for the Kingdom. Maybe we don’t ask for personal health prayer often enough, so we could use some extra gas on that fire, right now, for good health & safety!!

We have some cool stories, next month, from our compassion arm in Mexico.

GOD bless YOU, and thank you for helping us make a difference in the world!! Wayne & Carol
